Mr. Mawuli Zogbenu – Head, Public Relations Unit
Mawuli Zogbenu has about 17 years’ experience in the Insurance industry 14 of which are in managerial capacity.
He possesses a Master of Arts degree in Public Relations from the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ). He is a Chartered Insurer from the Ghana Insurance College (GIC) and the Malta International Training Centre (MITC) from where he obtained his double Diplomas and Advanced Diploma in Applied Insurance Studies.
Mawuli Zogbenu holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Business Administration degree from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi.
He is also an MCIM of the United Kingdom (UK) and had his pre-tertiary education at Achimota School.
Mawuli is a communicator par excellence in various spheres. As a prolific writer, he is not only a regular Columnist for the Business & Financial Times, Graphic Business, Ghanaweb and myjoyonline but also a contributor to several insurance industry publications including The Guarantor, The Insurance Hub and The CIIG Journal.
With a strong background in the media and insurance space, he has a firm control over integrated communications strategies in effectively reaching out to the masses in every category of the working class. He has served and continues to serve on most of the key publicity, editorial and education committees in the insurance industry in Ghana. Some of these include the ECOWAS Brown Card Insurance Scheme, Ghana Insurers Association (GIA), the Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana (CIIG), the West African Insurance Companies Association (WAICA), the Insurance Awareness Coordinators’ Group (IACG) and the Designated Spokespersons of the Regulators’ Financial Inclusion Committee. Others are the Association of Insurers and Reinsurers in Developing Countries (AIRDC) Local Organising Committee and the Ghana Insurance College (GIC).
He joined the NIC in October 2019 after having worked in the mainstream Insurance space mostly in marketing management capacity (both life and non-life) over a decade following a 3-year stint with the Public Affairs Unit of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).
His stock in trade are excellent writing skills, public speaking skills and events organisation. Since 2006, Mawuli has moderated an uncountable number of insurance industry events including international conferences. He is a Member of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), the Institute of Public Relations (IPR), Ghana and the Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana (CIIG) on which he has served as the Chairman of the Editorial and Publicity Committees for two (2) consecutive terms.
Mr. Kyeame Ghansah – Head, Research Unit
Mr. Kyeame Ghansah joined the Commission as the Head of Research unit in March, 2019. His enormous and diverse experiences over the years is measurable in the aspect of he being a Lecturer, Research Fellow and Teacher, all prior to he joining the Commission.
He is currently a Doctorial candidate bagged with a MSc. Development Finance and a Bachelors Degree in Economics and Political Science from the University of Ghana, Legon and the University of Education, Winneba, respectively. To his credit, he posses a Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Insurance from the Ghana Insurance College and an internationally recognized Certificate in Global Social Enterprise from Yale School of Management.
Mr. Kofi Baffour Sencherey – Head, Special Investigations and Sanction Unit
Kofi Baffour Sencherey has over 27 years of experience in the Insurance industry 10 of which are in a managerial capacity.
He is a Chartered Insurer from the Ghana Insurance College and the Malta International Training Centre, where he obtained his Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Applied Insurance Studies.
Mr. Sencherey possesses a Commonwealth Executive Masters of Business Administration (CEMBA) and, a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration (Accounting Option) all from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
With a strong background and experience in the insurance industry, Mr. Sencherey’s hallmark is to overcome difficult situations to achieve results.
He joined the NIC in July 2018 as the Ashanti / Western North Regional Manager after having worked in the mainstream Insurance space mostly in the Branch manager capacity in the non-life for over 23 years. He is currently the Head, Special Investigations and Sanction Unit (SISU) of the National Insurance Commission and a part-time lecturer at the Ghana Insurance College.
